2015 NIT Tournament All-Stars

Romel McCalla is a dynamic player who launched O’Neill into the finals of the Kawartha Classic by scoring 6 consecutive 3 point baskets in the first quarter of the semi-final game. During the regular season Romel’s speed and agility has earned him, on average, 21 points per game. This year his defensive prowess has caught up to his offensive talents making a threat at both ends of the court. Romel has been a key part of the Redhawks’ undefeated season this year.

Jayden Perry has always enjoyed basketball and he has played for two rep teams. He went to train with the Vaughan Panthers in the summer of 2014. Coming to high school he quickly became a starter at shooting guard. In his highest scoring game of the season he scored 40 of his team’s 53 points. He is a leader on the team and has great court vision. Often he was called to lock down other teams’ best players and did an excellent job of it. He routinely plays the entire game. He looks forward to helping his teams achieve great success as he grows and improves his game. He is definitely worthy of the title “all-star” both for his performance in the tournament as well as on the season for his school team.

Jalen Celestine is a big guard who can score. He has lead a group of Grade 9`s at Pickering High this year through early morning practices and tough games against Junior teams. His ability to shoot the ball mixed in with his set of dribble drive moves and the odd assist make him an offensive threat. Jalen accepts a leadership role and leads his peers by example.

Chase Warwickis a grade ten student on the junior team at PDCI. Chase has improved a great deal since entering high school and has become a relied upon leader for his team. Chase has always been a great driver, but by adding a three point shot to his game, he has become a real threat to score.

Ryan Heim  is an excellent Gr. 9 student athlete that has worked hard to develop a very positive work ethic as he learned to compete in High School Basketball. He was an excellent team leader throughout our season leading Orillia Secondary School to a 20 - 9 record. He is a deceptive left handed shooter that loves to take 3's. He averaged 14.8 pts/game and was consistently our best player. Ryan is honoured to be named a Kawartha Classic All-Star.

2nd Team NIT All-Stars

Brock Newell  is the engine that runs the ship for IE Weldon's Junior Boys Team. Currently in his grade ten year, Brock really stepped up his game this season and has matured into a solid scorer and teammate. He works hard every day to improve, and his hard-nosed style of play is contageous in the Weldon gym. Brock is a strong shooter, has good handles, and plays with intelligence. When you watch him play, it is clear that he is the leader of his team

Ben Mascarenhas  is an essential player on our team. As a co-captain, he often leads by example with his strong work ethic and willingness to find ways to take his game to the next level. Ben is often called upon to play multiple positions for our team and provides consistent scoring, regardless of the role he is assigned. Ben is also a smart player who sees the court extremely well, even against high pressure defence. As coaches, we look forward to seeing Ben develop even further as player for the Saints in years to come.

Chris Flynn has played basketball for St. Thomas CSS for two years and has played OBA for the Lindsay Wildcats for the last 6 years. Chris is a natural born leader who plays his heart out. His knowledge and love for the game show every time he's on the court.

Mitchell MacBain has a true passion for the game of basketball. He has had an outstanding season for the Cobourg Collegiate Wolves. He is a shooting threat from 3-point range and can also take it to the hoop when given the chance. His ball-handling skills are excellent and he has been a big part of the success of our team this season. Congratulations Mitchell, on this all-star selection!

Zach Beltrame needs Zach Beltrame had an excellent performance at this year's Kawartha Classic. He was a dominant presence in the post leading his team in scoring, rebounding, and blocked shots. Zach has continued his consistent play for much of the season. This is a result of his hard work and efforts to improve. Zach combines his outstanding play on the court with very strong academic achievement in the classroom. He is a great role model for other athletes.
